RUNNING FOR MOCKINGBIRD, WITH REUNION RUMORS IN MIND
- Page issued a letter to fans on June 26, 2008, stating in part that “later this year,” Mike, Page, Fish and Trey hoped to discuss “what possible futures we might enjoy.”
- Earlier this month, Mike, Fish and Trey reunited at the Rothbury Festival, covering “She Said She Said” by the Beatles.
- On August 5, 2008, LivePhish and Dry Goods will release the legendary Walnut Creek July 22, 1997 show on DVD, MP3 and Flac.
- That same day, Mike will release another solo album, The Green Sparrow, and will tour in support of it.
There is certainly a lot to be excited about right now in the Phish community. The Mockingbird Foundation is thrilled by these events and, of course, by the prospect of Phish reuniting. Last year, the Foundation created the Phish Reunion Fund, which is to be disbursed as soon as possible after — and if — it is announced that Phish will perform one (or more) public show(s).
In honor of Phish, and in an effort to raise more money for children’s music education, Foundation Board Member Charlie Dirksen will run the San Francisco Half-Marathon on Sunday, August 3, his third run in support of music education for children. And, he’ll match the first $250 in donations!
Please consider donating to the Phish Reunion Fund in any amount. Every dollar counts and will support music education programs for children. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that has been operated by volunteers for more than ten years — there is no paid staff, or office. Your donation is fully tax-deductible.
If you wish to donate, you may do so by credit or debit card or by clicking on the “Make a Donation” button below. Or, you can write a check made payable to The Mockingbird Foundation and mail it to The Mockingbird Foundation, c/o The Godards, 6948 Luther Circle, Moorpark, CA 93021.
If you’re running any marathons (or parts thereof) and would like to help Mockingbird, and get a boost from folks pulling for you during the run, we’d love to hear from you. This is Charlie Dirksen’s second run for the Foundation. David Madden will run in the ING New York City Marathon in November, also in support of Mockingbird.
We thank you for your continued support of our unique organization, which we believe was the first 501(c)(3) organization founded by fans of a rock band to raise funds in support of music education programs nationwide. We encourage anyone interested in helping us fundraise in the future to contact Ellis Godard, the Foundation’s Executive Director, at ellis@mbird.org, with your ideas.
Sincerely,
The Mockingbird Foundation

The Mockingbird Foundation is pleased to announce another fundraiser to help raise funds for music education programs. Board member Charlie Dirksen will be running three races in February in honor of Kristen Godard and the Foundation’s Funding Committee (http://www.mockingbirdfoundation.org/funding/). Analyzing the hundreds of grant proposals the Foundation receives every year takes a great deal of time. The Board is enormously appreciative of this work and the other work performed by the Funding Committee. The Foundation has no
paid employees or staff and is run entirely by volunteers.
As part of this fundraising effort, Charlie will run a 5K (3.1 miles) this weekend on Sunday, February 3, in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco; a half-marathon (13.1 miles) in Vancouver, British Columbia, on February 10; and a 10K (6.2 miles) in downtown San Francisco as part of the city’s Chinese New Year festivities on February 17.
Despite their inestimable value, music education programs are often eliminated by school districts hoping to cut costs. These programs increasingly depend on grants from 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations like The Mockingbird Foundation in order to operate at all. Your support has already made a difference in the lives of countless children nationwide and will make a difference in the future.
We hope that you will make a tax-deductible donation in ANY amount.
Every dollar counts. Charlie will match up to the first $250 in donations received as part of this fundraiser. If you choose to donate, your donation will be fully tax-deductible. You may donate by mail or on-line, including by credit card, through our web page:
http://www.mockingbirdfoundation.org/donations/. Thank you!
Sincerely,
THE MOCKINGBIRD FOUNDATION

Charlie Dirksen, a founding Board member and officer of the Mockingbird Foundation, will be running 13.1 miles around San Francisco (including on the Golden Gate Bridge) on Sunday morning July 29 as part of The San Francisco Marathon events. Charlie is running in order to raise money to support music education for children programs. Your donation will help inspire Charlie in this effort, and a donation of ANY SIZE AT ALL is encouraged and welcomed. The Foundation is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization, so your donation not only is fully tax deductible, but also substantially and directly benefits music education programs due to the Foundation’s very low overhead.
Charlie will match up to the first $250 in donations. Charlie would also like to thank you personally for your donation. If you donate to the Foundation in recognition of Charlie’s run, please consider submitting your email address and your “snail mail” (postal) address along with your donation.
Phish fan and NYC film/video editor David Madden will run the ING New York City Marathon in November, and has invited friends and fans to sponsor his run by donating to the Mockingbird Foundation. And, he’ll match the first $250 in donations!
You can support David – and music education for children – by credit card, debit card, Paypal account, or bank debit, through the link below; or, you can write a check made payable to The Mockingbird Foundation and mail it to The Mockingbird Foundation, c/o The Godards, 6948 Luther Circle, Moorpark, CA 93021.
Every dollar counts and will support music education programs for children. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that has been operated by volunteers for more than ten years — there is no paid staff, or office. Your donation is fully tax-deductible.
David is the second Phish fan to raise funds for the Foundation by running, and this will be the fifth race run for Mockingbird. If you’re running – in a marathon, a part thereof, or some other race – and would like to similarly support the Foundation, please contact us.
David Madden currently lives in New York City and works as a film/video editor. He recently had the pleasure of working with photographer/director Danny Clinch on a “Best of Bonnaroo” project for TV. He is originally from Long Island, though he has never met Colonel Forbin. He saw Phish for the first time at Jones Beach in the summer of 1994 (the first solar-powered Phish show), and has since traveled far and wide to catch them at every feasible opportunity. He is turning 30 years old this summer, and in November, he is running in the ING New York City Marathon, which navigates through all of the five boroughs of the city for 26.2 miles. This is his first marathon.
